INDIA, THANDARAI. CONCRETE SUPPORT FOR EDUCATION AND FOOD. ONE EURO WITH PAYPAL — DID YOU KNOW?

Our after-school program is growing! From 10 to 21 students in just one year! ATF provides school supplies: in India, we purchase notebooks for everyone, study guides for students preparing for exams, and specific learning tools. And from Italy, a second computer has arrived for the students to use, along with lots of pens, colored pens, pencils, and markers. Scholarships and transportation: We have paid the second installment of scholarships to our four scholarship recipients. We also cover the monthly school bus fares for four other students (yes, the same bus that sometimes arrives late — see above! 🙂 ).Food assistance: Since the end of July, we have been providing 25 kg of rice and additional food supplies to four people.

CONGO – ISIRO. EBOLA, THE EMERGENCY CONTINUES. HELP US!

In Isiro, Ebola is raging, and the fight continues. Many deaths, along with some cases of recovery. The first thing to do is to raise awareness about avoiding crowds and following the doctors’ instructions. Br. Rombaut and the community are constantly on alert and keeping a close watch on the situation. They visit families every day. They take care of many elderly people who live alone and are vulnerable, providing them with food, supplies as well as advice on how to avoid infection.They bring food for the children directly to their homes or give it to their mothers. But the supplies of medical materials have run out.“ Everything we had is gone. If possible, we need you to send us more.”

CONGO – EBOLA EMERGENCY IN ISIRO. WE NEED YOUR HELP

The Ebola virus has arrived in Isiro, the city where we support children and families. This is a serious and urgent emergency. The risk to children and adults is real: prevention is essential. TF has already taken action. We want to provide these essential supplies for approximately 3 months to the 250 families who attend the Gajen Centre.

ITALY – REUSING WITH CREATIVITY AND COMMITMENT IS WORTH AT LEAST €54,000!

With a little goodwill and creativity, we can give things a second life and, above all, help many people. And all of this is worth a lot! In just 12 months, the estimated value of the materials that have been reused and already delivered is at least €54,000! This is a very cautious estimate, based on deliberately low values for second-hand items.

News: ATF is supporting 3 university students and one secondary school student, all high-achieving and from low-income families, by covering the portion of tuition fees and transportation costs that their families cannot afford on their own or through student loans.

ITALY – REUSE OF MATERIALS: A LOT AND EVERYTHING

Two positive updates: the gym bench we received some time ago has been delivered to the prison in Ferrara, while the bike trainer has been placed in a home for unaccompanied minors. Thanks to collaboration with a library in Milan, comics have been distributed to after-school programs and educational centers. Books and comics will be provided to both adult and child patients at the European Institute of Oncology; English books will also be sent to a language school. ATF has also given new life to many other items

In March, we visited the after-school program in Thandarai several times In April, the school holidays began, but the after-school center remained open with creative activities, games, English courses, and extra math support lessons for the students who stayed in the village. BAIRE, CUBA – REGULAR SUPPORT AND MATERIAL PREPARATION

In Baire, Cuba, the situation continues to worsen: medicines are scarce and food is extremely expensive; without fuel, people can only get around by horse or bicycle. Electricity and internet access are available for just two to three hours a day, making it impossible to plan or carry out any ongoing activities. The risk of assaults and violence is also increasing, and the streets are no longer safe. Despite these difficulties, the projects supported by ATF continue thanks to Don Carlo’s great determination. However, needs are growing: there are more and more single mothers, and recently two more children have joined, one of them a newborn. ATF continues its commitment by: • ensuring regular support, assisting 9 single mothers and their children, and covering the salaries of the sewing course teachers; • recently sourcing materials that Don Carlo can bring to Cuba

THANDARAI, INDIA: MORE PLATES — THAT IS, MORE STUDENTS. GOOD GRADES

How is the after-school program in Thandarai going? Well, every day we receive photos of the snack plates lined up in rows that are getting longer and wider... It’s a fact: the number of students is increasing. There are now 20 of them, about fifteen of whom attend regularly. All the new arrivals, it seems, come through word of mouth — and that’s a very positive sign.

Fresh images are arriving from Isiro of the children supported by ATF through the canteen run by the Gajen association and the Consolata Missionaries. There are about forty little children. Every day, together with their mothers, they receive proper meals, medical check-ups, and plenty of care. Concrete help from those supporting them on the ground… and from us, here.

ATF has distributed notebooks and stationery to all after-school students. We continue to regularly support a university student; every day we provide a snack for every student. To most vulnerable families from December until now, 35 kg of rice have been distributed along with other food supplies.

THANDARAI (INDIA): A NEW COMPUTER, THE SECOND ONE, AND REGULAR SCHOOL AND FOOD AID. BAIRE (CUBA): A LOT OF NEW THINGS.

We have a lot of good news. About THANDARAI: In the after-school program, there is a second computer! Additionally, this quarter, many kilograms of rice (about 100) were given to people in need. About BAIRE: Now, two electric rice cookers have also been bought for families that still use charcoal (which pollutes, is unhealthy, and is also costly).
