INDIA, THANDARAI: HOLIDAYS, BUT EDUCATION CONTINUES — EVEN MORE THAN BEFORE
In March we visited the after-school program in Thandarai several times: the teacher is well-prepared and highly motivated, and the number of students is growing — about 15 now attend regularly. Final exams were just around the corner, so everyone was busy studying.
In April, the school holidays began, but the after-school center remained open with the teacher organizing creative activities, games, English courses, and extra math support lessons for the students who stayed in the village.
From time to time, ATF provided the necessary materials: mats, notebooks, paper, drawing pencils (some donated from Italy — thank you!), and games.
Excellent exam results also arrived: the 12th-grade students did very well — Jeevan scored 402/600 and Kamesh 388/600! The four 10th-grade students also passed their exams, some with very good marks: 359/500.
To reward them, we gave all the students school supplies and a small cash incentive.
Jeevan has already enrolled in Biomedical Engineering, and we are considering a scholarship to help support him with part of his tuition fees and other monthly expenses. We will update you soon.
As every quarter, we sent around 200 euros to support the various projects.
Food assistance also continues: since mid-March, 30 kg of rice plus other food supplies have been distributed to elderly people and families in need.
