ITALY – REUSE: THE SATISFACTION OF HELPING, AND BIG SAVINGS

We were donated a bike trainer—it will be very useful in a community for “at-risk” youth. And an Italian dictionary? Perfect for those running language courses for foreigners.
These are concrete examples of how reuse can create value.
Every item that comes in requires creativity to find the right destination, and sometimes also effort and a bit of expense.
But just think of the satisfaction of making it useful for other people!
And think of the satisfaction of doing the math and discovering that recovering and redistributing goods helps avoid waste and generate significant savings.
We’ll give you some estimates when the first year of this ATF activity is completed; but believe us, we’re talking about serious money—money saved.
In addition to the cases mentioned above, since mid-March 8 donors have been directed to various associations or have delivered to ATF (even multiple times, and also by mail) backpacks, bags, clothes and medicines; about 50 prescription glasses and some sunglasses; wallets and document holders; glasses and jars; personal hygiene products. Everything will be distributed in Italy.
Other materials received from 4 donors will go abroad: stationery for after-school programs in India; a computer and a sewing machine for Togo; sewing materials for Cuba.

Thanks to all the donors! And to the associations that in the last month have welcomed and given new life to so many items: Opera Messa della Carità; Associazione Franco Verga, Casa di Tabità and Rigenera Sport.
And it continues: at least another 15 people have received guidance on where to bring unused items—we’re waiting to see the results.
