SO MANY UPDATES: SCHOLARSHIPS IN INDIA; WE’RE NOT STAYING STILL IN ITALY EITHER :). AND GOOD THINGS COMING SOON IN CONGO

Good morning!
Altuofianco is growing! Steps by step, with many things we’re happy to do.

THANDARAI, INDIA:
News: the first ATF scholarships! Two girls who have finished school have enrolled in higher education—one at university and the other in a computer science diploma program. ATF will cover some of their expenses to help them attend classes: initial costs for materials (1,000 rupees, about 10 euros) and a monthly contribution (500 rupees) for college meals and other small necessities; while their families will pay the (fortunately low) academic fees. We’re ready to cover any additional costs if necessary.
We’re happy to help create an opportunity for these two girls to grow.
We’ll check their grades periodically and keep you updated.
In June, when school resumed, ATF provided notebooks to the after-school students, and exam prep guides for the final year students. We’re continuing to offer snacks during after-school programs and food assistance to people in need: in June, 10 kg of rice + flour and other supplies were donated to two elderly women living alone.

ATF IS ACTIVE IN ITALY TOO – AND THAT’S ALSO WONDERFUL!
ATF doesn’t yet have formal projects in Italy, but we’re already doing some good at home too.
How? By connecting, when possible, donors of funds/materials with associations interested in using them.
So far, this has happened for:
• Materials: When ATF receives tips about small or large quantities of items available in Italy, we do our best to find associations in Milan that can accept them and use them to help those in need.
Examples? A stock of 200 new children’s t-shirts that the Alpini friends from the Sesto San Giovanni Group had but didn’t want to waste: ATF found an organization to distribute them to families in need (not easy, when it comes to children’s items), and they were delivered to the wardrobe of Casa di Tabità. Thanks to the Alpini and Tabità!
Or many small clothing donations that we’ve “redirected” to associations that collect and distribute them.
Sometimes we’ve had less luck, like with a stock of medical masks that no one wanted (but thank you to the donor who offered them!). The important thing is to try—many things can be useful to someone.
• Funding: A while ago, ATF was contacted by a company interested in donating. Unfortunately, they required a project based in Lombardy, which we didn’t have.
So what did we do? We reached out to local associations we trust, connected them with the donor, and helped prepare the project presentations, which the associations are now submitting on their own… good luck to them!
We hope to do even more of this in the future—if you have ideas or want to help, every suggestion and hand is welcome!

ISIRO, CONGO
There are new, exciting things in the works! Just a little more patience, and we’ll tell you all about them.
For now, we can say that everything is going well at the Isiro canteen supported by ATF; and we’re sharing some photos from the last day of school at the five elementary schools in Neisu managed by the Missionaries (not supported by ATF).

CUBA:
ATF continues to support six single mothers and their children every month, as well as pay two sewing teachers.
You’ll find photos from a meal for the poor (well, poorer than others) that some people from Don Carlo’s parish, with his help, manage to organize whenever they can with the little they have.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
You can make a DONATION, one-time or recurring (monthly or quarterly), in any amount you choose.
