HELP TO THANDARAI

Altuofianco, in the village of Thandarai in the rural areas of Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, South India:
– provides assistance to people in need, particularly elderly women who live alone, for food necessities
– and supports the local after-school program with donations that make it possible to buy school materials, to offer daily snacks to the students which helps encourage attendance, and to economically assist some students with specific needs related to their ongoing studies. In the future, more substantial support may be provided if needed.
The assistance is carried out through our friend Wilson, a former teacher who created the Ewart Education Center in the village in 2021 (named after the donor who funded its construction and supports the cost of salaries for teachers) where about fifteen students can learn not only academic subjects but also music, martial arts, and the development of artistic skills.

In addition to managing the after-school program, Wilson also tries to offer support to many people and families in Thandarai and the surrounding areas who are in difficulty with basic needs such as food.

Some examples of the costs?
Thirty 4 kg bags of rice cost approximately 80 euros per month.
The daily snack for the 15 students of the after-school program costs about 20 euros per month.

School materials and support for student attendance cost about 30 euros per month.
